- EFL clubs like Wrexham are eyeing Northern Irish star Benji Magee for his impressive performances.
- Carlton Palmer believes Wrexham is best-suited to secure Magee’s signature given their ambitions.
- Wrexham, backed by Hollywood owners, offer an exciting project for young talents like Magee.
Benji Magee is being pursued by several EFL teams to sign with Northern Irish team Loughgall.
The Loughgall youngster is reportedly drawing interest from multiple English clubs, according to Teamtalk.
This includes Charlton Athletic, Oxford United, Wrexham, and Bolton Wanderers, among others, who have all been reported to be interested.
Magee’s performances for Loughgall this campaign have left a lot of people impressed.
The forward’s goal-scoring exploits have earned him recognition on a global scale, as evidenced by his call-up to the Northern Ireland U21 team.
Carlton Palmer tips Wrexham to sign Magee
Carlton Palmer thinks clubs should be thrilled about the possibility of acquiring Magee this summer.
But if Wrexham gets promoted to League One for the upcoming campaign, he thinks they have the best chance of signing the young player.
Palmer told Football League World that “a number of EFL clubs are chasing Northern Ireland’s rising star Benji Magee.”
“Benji is incredibly exciting; he has starred at his club Loughgall.
“Now that he’s been called up to the Northern Ireland U21s, a number of teams are vying for his signature, including Oxford, Wrexham, Bolton, and Charlton.
“Wrexham, who might play in League One the following season, is reportedly eager to sign the 21-year-old.
For him, this would be an exciting new challenge because he plays frequently and effectively.
“He will want to join a team that can ensure he plays football on the first team.
“Wrexham, as we all know, has excellent owners who support the team, so if they were promoted, I believe they would have a very good chance of obtaining his signature.
However, it appears that the Northern Irish League club will be making a significant move for him this summer.
Wrexham’s promotion ambition
After securing their spot in League Two only the previous season, Wrexham is looking to earn two promotions in a row this season.
Under the ownership of their new Hollywood partners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the club has experienced a meteoric rise.
Together, they produced the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series, which has expanded the club’s global reach.
With the Red Dragons aiming for automatic promotion to League One this year, Phil Parkinson has also received a great deal of praise for his management of the team.
There are only a few games left, so it’s obvious that preparations are being made for their possible summer venture.
Wrexham are an exciting project for prospective signings
Magee believes that a transfer to Wrexham would be very alluring, particularly if they are promoted to League One.
There is every reason to believe that this club, which is growing and has the support of its owners, can keep expanding over the coming years. Their summer signings last year are proof enough of their ambition, and more of the same is anticipated in the upcoming window.
Parkinson is a skilled coach as well, so the chance to collaborate with him might be compelling.
The most crucial element is playing time, which Wrexham should be able to give to an exciting young forward who has already shown he is capable of scoring goals consistently at a level comparable to those in League One and Two.
