Opacic has signed a new contract until 2025 with the Robins.
Hull KR have received a significant boost with the news that star centre Tom Opacic has committed his long-term future to the club. Opacic, who still had a year remaining on his initial deal after joining from Parramatta Eels, has now extended his stay until at least 2025.
In his debut season with Rovers, Opacic has quickly established himself as a pivotal player, showcasing his skills with nine tries in 29 games whilst also bolstering up the right-edge defensive structure. His contributions on both ends of the field have been invaluable, making him an integral part of the team’s plans for the future.
The Australian’s decision to extend his contract underlines his belief in the club’s direction and commitment to the cause. By joining the likes of James Batchelor and George King in securing their long-term futures with the Robins this season, it keeps a core group of star figures at Craven Park for the foreseeable future for seasons to come and is targeting big things for the Red and Whites.
On signing his new deal, Opacic said: “‘When that opportunity came up (for the extension), I grabbed it with both hands. Our goal this year was to get that top 4 Super League finish. We achieved that and also made the Cup final at Wembley. We’ll now set our sights on getting back to Wembley next year and securing a top 2 finish in Super League next year.’
Reacting to Opacic’s new extension, Hull KR Head Coach, Willie Peters said: ‘We’re really pleased to see Tom extend. He’s been extremely consistent this year. I knew we’d be bringing over a consistent centre.
