Parramatta Eels star Mitchell Moses has left mothers across Australia shaking their heads in dismay by revealing he has only changed his daughter’s nappy once since her birth last September.
Moses, 28, who is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the NRL season with a fractured cheekbone, confessed to Triple M’s Ryan Girdler he hasn’t exactly been hands-on when it comes to the change table at home.
‘I can’t do it,’ Moses admitted.
‘I did one when she [Aspyn] was born, because the nurse pretty much made me do it.
‘I felt like I pretty much had to, but that was the only time.’
The halfback also admitted he is ‘very lucky’ to have a tolerant partner in Bri Gardoni.
Coach Brad Arthur told his star playmaker to return home for the birth – even if it meant losing the must win clash.
‘What are you doing here? Get out of here,’ Arthur said at the time.
But Moses said he couldn’t let his teammates down and instead witnessed the birth of his child via Facetime.
‘I just looked at him [Arthur] and said, ‘I can’t leave’. I can’t leave these boys given how hard we’ve worked all year,’ Moses said.
Understandably, first time mother Gardoni wasn’t initially pleased with Moses’ team-first attitude.
‘She was a bit a bit filthy at the start when she got put in and said this is how it’s gonna happen,’ Moses recalled.
‘But she understood. She’s supported me through everything.
‘But I have a family now – all this is for them.
