As soon as Paul [Wellens] and Mike [Rush] gave me a ring to say it was finished, I couldn’t wait to travel over, especially to a fantastic club like St Helens. The change from heat to cold is something I’m looking forward to!
Coming to St Helens, a team that consistently finishes in the top two or top four, and then pulling off a four-peat is a huge accomplishment, so I’m hoping I can fit in and help us win another one. I can’t wait to come to work after seeing all of the players and strike that they have there.
Blake’s signing is great for the Club and the Betfred Super League, and the player, who was born in Lautoka, has heard a lot about rugby league played in the northern hemisphere from a former Saint.
“I believe that the Super League is improving. I witnessed St Helens defeat Penrith in the World Club Challenge the previous year, and nobody would have predicted it.” The standard of football is getting better and you can see that in the England side that played Tonga.
“I saw the Grand Final where Kevin Naiqama won Man of the Match, and I played with him at Saints, where he was really good. I’m excited because he told me a lot about Super League while we were at the Fiji camp, how unique it is there, and that the Saints are a terrific group of guys.
