Port Adelaide to appeal Dixon ban

Port Adelaide will appeal Charlie Dixon’s three-match suspension that was upheld by the SANFL tribunal on Wednesday night.

Dixon was cited for rough conduct by the SANFL Match Review Panel following an incident involving West Adelaide’s Jordan White on Saturday at Alberton Oval.

The incident was graded as careless conduct with high contact and severe impact, however Port Adelaide challenged the charge at Wednesday’s tribunal on the basis that the impact should be reclassified as high, rather than severe.

The appeal hearing will take place at Adelaide Oval on Friday from 9:30am.

Port Adelaide in a statement insist that Charlie Dixon does not deserve the kind of harsh punishment he got and are optimistic that the appeal will come out with a positive result.
