CEO of Portsmouth Andy Cullen has acknowledged that the team is looking to replace Alex Robertson.
Robertson joined the Fratton Park team in the summer on a season-long loan from Manchester City, and the midfield player quickly made a name for himself in the Portsmouth starting lineup.
A setback to Pompey came when Robertson injured his hamstring during a training session in early January, ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Cullen brought up the fact that Portsmouth’s restricted alternatives in the free agency market prevented them from doing anything when Regan Poole had an injury early in November.
However, he acknowledged that Portsmouth is actively looking for Robertson’s replacement during the current window.
“We have a three-game away stretch coming up, and if we can pull it off, that will set us up nicely for our February return to Fratton Park to play Northampton,” Cullen stated to The News.
We are also able to influence matters because we are in a transfer window.
You weren’t able to do anything about Regan’s injuries in November at that specific moment. With Alex Robertson’s injury, we can now address it in January, and that is precisely what we are attempting to accomplish.
Portsmouth has lost all of their games since Robertson’s injury, therefore John Mousinho will be looking to get a replacement to Fratton Park as quickly as possible.
