Figures revealed as European outfit put price tag on PNE transfer target

Czech outlet infotbal have reported that the Norwegian midfielder is a target for the Lilywhites, but the two clubs remain apart in their valuation of the player.

It’s stated that the 24-year-old ‘wants to play in the Championship’, which should be music to the ears of everyone at Preston, but the £2.1million asking price could well prove to be a sticking point.

The midfielder still has three years left on his deal in the Czech capital, having signed a four-year deal with Slavia Prague when he joined from Odds BK in his homeland last summer, and his club are looking for over £2m to let him leave the Fortuna Arena this summer.

Since arriving in the Czech Republic last summer, the 24-year-old left-sided midfielder for Slavia Prague has made 39 appearances for the Norwegian age-grade national team.

With eight goals and eight assists in those 39 appearances, he’s put up a very respectable return, which is why Preston are eager to have him play at Deepdale this summer.

Wallem, who has played in the Europa League, assisted Slavia Prague in their victories over FC Sheriff and Servette FC, and led his team to a second-place finish in the Czech First League, four points behind champion Sparta Prague. Slavia Prague advanced to the Round of 16 after winning five of their six group games.

The 2024–25 Czech First League season has officially started, and Wallem is off to a great start. He scored during his team’s 4-0 victory over České Budějovice last week, and it seems like he’s returned to his previous level of play.

The manager of Slavia Prague, Jindřich Trpišovský, seems eager to retain one of his best players at the team and is aware of the interest in Wallem.

“At the moment he is the player we are counting on. We don’t want to let him go, but in two weeks it can develop differently. Maybe he will start on Wednesday, we have some absences in his position. We want to keep the players at some pace.”

Wallem appears keen to make the move to Lancashire, and it’s now down to the two clubs to thrash out a fee, with the sides apart in their valuation of the Norwegian.

Conrad Wallem would be an excellent signing for Preston North End

With just Robbie Brady on their books as a left-sided midfielder, it’s an area that Preston need to strengthen and signing Wallem would be an excellent way to do that.

It’s clear that the fee will be the sticking point for any deal here, but if the Lilywhites were able to secure a deal for him, he’s a player that could potentially make them money in the years to come.

At just twenty-four, he has the potential to fetch a high price when he is eventually sold, so Peter Risdale may have made a wise investment if he keeps up his current upward trajectory.

Wallem is a goal-scoring and goal-creating talent, and adding him to the team would offer Ryan Lowe another offensive option. Preston has been very close to the playoffs in recent years, so this might help them advance.
