According to reports, the Baggies will make a £500,000 offer to Preston for Will Keane, an experienced striker, following the rejection of an earlier bid.
According to Football Insider, Carlos Corberan wants to add more depth at centre striker, hence Albion has opted to renew negotiations to sign the Manchester United youth product.
Although West Brom’s spending options are severely restricted in the final days of the transfer window, they still have some money available. The funds were increased by the £2.25 million sale of Brandon Thomas-Asante to Coventry City earlier this month as well as the additional £2 million raised by the departures of Okay Yokuslu and Conor Townsend.
Keane, now 31 years of age and with just 10 months left on his Preston contract, has been identified as a potential low-cost signing. The ex-Ipswich Town attacker scored 13 goals and made three assists in 38 Championship games last campaign after signing from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
Josh Maja, a recent hat-trick hero, and Devante Cole are already signed with West Brom by Corberan, and Daryl Dike, who is currently sidelined, may eventually be a possibility. Tom Fellows and Karlan Grant may perhaps play infield if necessary, but Corberan would much rather have another reliable number nine.
