Preston North End transfer focus is clear as £2.4m investment pays off’

PNE have found some form of late, picking up 11 points from the last five Championship games.

Ryan Lowe has achieved some outstanding outcomes despite being under a lot of strain previously.

Following an incredible run of victories over Middlesbrough, Cardiff City, and Ipswich Town, rumours about Lowe’s future have begun to fade.

What then changed? What has caused PNE to move from being in dire straits to having outside aspirations of making the playoffs once more?

The two Danish players from North End are now prominently featured in Lowe’s assault, and it’s a pleasure to watch.

Danish market working wonders for PNE

Striker Emil Riis is back fit and firing again after more than a year out through injury.

Saturday’s scruffy equaliser against Blackburn Rovers means Riis has now scored in each of his last three games.

Alongside Will Keane, Riis appears to be getting bigger and stronger and is now having a significant impact on the PNE assault.

Next up is Mads Frøkjaer-Jensen, who has been playing as the enthusiastic number 10 for North End.

PNE supporters begged Lowe to give the Dane more playing time as Frøkjær-Jensen struggled to get starts during the season.

Now that he’s in the side, Frøkjær-Jensen is prospering and consistently creating magical moments.

In the match against Cardiff City, Frøkjær-Jensen showed off his technical ability by pulling off two excellent assists.

We haven’t really seen many players like Frøkjær-Jensen in a PNE shirt; a true maverick number 10, capable of unlocking defences at will.

As their relationship with Riis deepens and both Danes succeed, PNE supporters can’t help but wonder whether additional Danish players might be added.

In the summer of last year, PNE paid about £1.2 million to sign Frøkjaer-Jensen from Odense, and in 2020, they paid a comparable amount to sign Riis from Randers.

Right now, that £2.4 million investment seems like a fantastic deal because PNE undoubtedly values both players far higher than the sums paid.

North End could be able to follow in Brentford’s footsteps by routinely purchasing in the Danish market, where they have been finding good value for their money this summer.
Even the Dane Daniel Iversen, who joined on loan from Leicester City, won over the fans, and additional Danes would undoubtedly be interested in joining North End.

This summer, PNE will have a full plate of business, with defenders and wing backs at the top of the priority list.

If Riis and Frøkjaer-Jensen keep up their good form, North End may return to the Danish transfer market in search of new players.
