Preston North End’s 25-man squad look next summer change anticipated’

Preston North End made no new signings in the January transfer window, but the summer should certainly see the Lilywhites wheel and deal again.

North End were busy ahead of the 2023/24 season and business will need to be conducted ahead of the next campaign. Of course, Ryan Lowe’s side have given themselves an outside chance of reaching the play-offs with recent results – so full focus, for now, is very much on the field.

However, after the next 13 games, focus will shift to assembling the team for the upcoming campaign, with certain spots that need strengthening clearly apparent. A few new contracts have been discussed by Preston with players, and it is hoped that captain Alan Browne will commit to the team going forward.

For others, it seems like the writing is on the wall. PNE’s budget will be increased in the summer when the new Financial Fair Play cycle begins, according to Director Peter Ridsdale’s blueprint. North End has not held back on investment in the last recent windows, and further support was evident.

The ability to pay could be the deciding factor in Preston’s ongoing efforts to land loan man Liam Millar. Although the Canada international has been well received at Deepdale, doubts about his short-term future will not be lacking. Still, PNE intends to claim Millar as their own.

The summer will undoubtedly bring some work for Central Defence, and North End might wish to give it another go at finding Brad Potts some worthy competition. The goalkeeping and striking departments are in good shape, and should Browne extend, the midfield will still be reasonably well-stocked. It’s important to remember that Under-21 players are not included in a club’s 25-man roster.

Woodman, Cornell; Whatmough, Storey, Lindsay, Cunningham, Hughes, Bauer; Potts, Brady, Ledson, McCann, Whiteman, Browne, Holmes, Frokjaer, Woodburn, Millar; Osmajic, Stewart, Evans, Riis, Keane are the members of PNE’s 23-man squad for this season. Pradic, Seary, Best, Taylor, Leigh, Nelson, Mawene, Rodriguez-Gentile, and Cross-Adair are the U21 players.
