Robbie Brady started for Republic of Ireland on Saturday against Belgium, while Liam Millar was part of the Canada squad which sealed a place at this summer’s Copa América.
Robbie was named in the starting XI by his country for the first time since September 2022 for a friendly at the Aviva Stadium against Belgium, and he played 81 minutes as they held the Red Devils to a goalless draw.
Later in the day, Liam was named on the bench for Canada as they faced Trinidad and Tobago in a crucial one-leg Play-Off match, with a place in the Copa América at stake.
Goals from Cyle Larin and Jacob Shaffelburg earned a 2-0 victory in Texas, meaning they will take on Argentina, Chile and Peru in this summer’s tournament.
Elsewhere, Ali McCann featured as a 71st-minute substitute in Northern Ireland’s 1-1 draw against Romania in Bucharest on Friday, while Kian Best played 72 minutes for England U19s in their draw against Morocco.
Besty will be looking to make another appearance in Sunday morning’s match against the USA, while Robbie will play Switzerland at the Aviva Stadium that same evening and Ali will travel to Scotland on Tuesday night.
It’s exciting when you see your players all featured with their national teams, it gives you a sense of satisfaction, because it stabilizes the mental health of your players and that help keep your team healthy which is very important.
