Another player has appeared on Preston North End’s transfer radar – but another club is ahead of them in the race.
Isaac Price is supposedly wanted by Preston North End, but there is competition from a Championship team.
The Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims that although West Brom is a rival, the Lilywhites are still interested in Price. The Baggies are now leading North End in the race and are negotiating with Standard Liege to relocate permanently out of Belgium.
The move can cost up to €2 million. Over the course of a potential five-year deal, personal terms are being considered, and Liege has already begun the process of finding a replacement.
Price is a versatile midfielder who can play in three different positions: offensive, centre, and defensive. Having been granted a free transfer to Standard Liege, he has been a member of the team for a year. Price agreed to a four-year contract with them, and when his team finished fifth in the Belgian premier division last season, he contributed two assists and a goal. Price has also received four caps for the national team of Northern Ireland.
Price, who was born in Pontrefact, Northern Ireland, began his professional career as an Everton football player after going through the club’s youth system. He made three senior appearances for the Toffees and received his debut from England football legend Frank Lampard. Price has played in two Premier League games, both as a substitute, and he acknowledged that Lampard had a significant impact on his career. “(Lampard) was massive for me,” Price stated in an October 2023 interview.
“I learnt so much while he was there. I had my debut… at Arsenal (in May 2022) and ever since then I felt like he really taught me a lot of stuff.
“He gave me my debut, he put a bit of trust in me. I was training with the (senior squad) often so I was learning a lot of stuff. got it gone differently at Everton and he’d got the players he needed to get results maybe I’d still be there.
