Field, 25, was suspended for QPR’s most recent match against Blackburn Rovers due to a yellow card he collected during the match against Leeds United, his fifth of the season.
Additionally, Field’s absence was apparent in QPR’s 4-0 home loss against Blackburn. But when the R’s travel up north to play Huddersfield Town this weekend, manager Gareth Ainsworth is excited to have Field back in the lineup.
Ainsworth addressed the group and spoke of Field:
“Sam is a huge contributor to this team.”
Added Ainsworth:
He’s among the top midfielders in the Championship, in my opinion. Sam Field’s presence on the team is really beneficial. With all due respect to the other midfielders, he is an excellent player, an incredible player. He is the player he is because of his character and identity.
Finally, on Field, Ainsworth stated:
“Sam, he just gives everything.” True warrior for the cause, but also quite skilled with the ball. On Saturday, he will undoubtedly be a welcomed return to the team.
The previous time around, Field won the titles of Supporters’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year. Since then, he has made ten appearances in the Championship; nevertheless, his contract expires the following summer.
A pleasant comeback for QPR
Ainsworth wants his best players available and on the field at this trying time, and Field is unquestionably one of QPR’s leaders and influences.
His presence in the centre of the pitch provides the team so much more steel and steadiness, and that day’s loss against Blackburn Rovers was partly caused by his absence.
The R’s next big test comes against Huddersfield, and Ainsworth will be happy to have Field back for the weekend, as the heat on the QPR manager is beginning to build.
Tomorrow at 3 p.m. is kickoff.
