Barry Ferguson shares January transfer verdict as new forward arrival at Ibrox’

Barry Ferguson suggester there is “no doubt” Rangers must sign at least one new forward in a new admission about the January transfer window at Ibrox.

So far, the only arrival on the blue side of Glasgow this month has been Fabio Silva, with the Portuguese forward joining Philippe Clement’s ranks at Ibrox on loan from Wolves for the remainder of the season.

However, as the end of the window approaches, Ferguson has encouraged Clement to begin “wheeling and dealing” in order for the Light Blues to add to their misfiring frontline before the end of the month.

On The Go Radio Football Show (19 January, 14:50), he stated: “I still believe they need another forward player, there’s no doubt about it. Sima is definitely playing international football, and I’m sure the management would like to strengthen all over the pitch.

“But when it comes to money, he’ll have to do some negotiating. I honestly believe he knows what he wants; the question is whether he gets it now or in the summer, but I’m confident he’ll do his best.

“I’m sure the Rangers board will try their best to try and help him achieve that.”

Leading into the January transfer window at Ibrox, the suggestion was that Clement would finally be set to put his footprint into this Rangers squad with a couple of quality additions to help the Gers reach a new level and overthrow Celtic.

But with 20 days gone, the incoming business has been absolutely minimal, with Silva the only new face through the door and little indication that any other new additions are imminent in the coming days.

Rangers have to get the ball rolling and Clement has to start wheeling and dealing to ensure that his squad are able to keep the pace with Celtic, otherwise, it could prove to be an incredibly miserable second half of the season at Ibrox this year.

Hopefully, the Belgian and Clement continue to try their best as Ferguson suggested and the Gers will be able to get at least one more striker incoming over the line before the end of January.
