Bloody Idiot’ – Celebrity Rangers fan explodes after official Ibrox news*

WWE star Drew McIntyre has branded Gareth Southgate a “bloody idiot” after he left Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland out of his England squad.

The Ibrox stopper was initially expected to be part of the squad for games against Brazil and Belgium but was snubbed at the last minute, despite his excellent form.

And during an interview with That’s Football (26 March), the celebrity Rangers fan was asked about the decision and labelled the goalkeeper as the best player at the club.

“Yeah they’re idiots for leaving him out of the squad,” he said.

“He is along with the captain Tav, our best player. We’ve been searching for such a long time to replace Allan McGregor in goal, we’ve tried multiple keepers and then had to bring McGregor back.

“But finally with Butland, he is the man. He’s absolutely on fire. He is, as I say, probably our best player maybe with the captain and to leave him out of the [England] squad you’re just an idiot. A bloody idiot, from Drew McIntyre.

“He’s amazing. I’m blown away by how amazing he’s been for us. The whole team right now has so much momentum.

“It’s unfortunate obviously with the Europa, the first game wasn’t a bloody penalty. Nonetheless, with the league we’ve got a game in hand, we’re going to get it done and Butland is a big reason we’ve got all that momentum.”

Most people were expecting Butland to be in the squad and it was quite the shock when Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale were called up instead of him.

It was then made even worse when Johnstone pulled out of the squad after the first game against Brazil and Southgate opted to draft in Under-21 goalkeeper James Trafford instead.

But for Rangers this can be a positive as it means a key player was able to rest and recharge ahead of a very busy period of the season, where he will need to be at top form if the club are to be successful.

Considering how bad the injury crisis was for the England national team during this break, it would have been typical if he had picked up a knock to add to the Ibrox curse.

Instead he is raring to go and prove himself as a potential option ahead of the summer European Championships, meaning he will still be hungry and as focused as ever.

In other Rangers news, Les Ferdinand has shared the “toxic” details of how Michael Beale was appointed.
