Confirmed: Award-winning forward ready to sign for Rangers talks already held:

Abdallah Sima hopes Rangers transfer can be secured with Brighton talks already held

Abdallah Sima has indicated that he hopes a route can be found for him to remain at Rangers permanently after his excellent development with the club.

The on-loan Brighton forward spoke alongside manager Philippe Clement at the pre-match press conference ahead of the crucial Europa League came in Betis on 13 December, to say the club has “everything for me to be happy” and “I hope we can find something for me”.

According to The 4th Official (8 December) talks have already been opened with the Seagulls over a permanent deal for the 22-year-old, although the asking price currently too high.

Sima said (17m 50s): “You know in football everything can happen. To be honest I’m really happy to be in Glasgow and wearing this special shirt because for me it’s a team I really like. I said in my first interview that’s a club I really like.

“They have everything for me to be happy. I’m happy to be here and I hope we’re going to find something for me. But I’m happy to be here and help the team, that’s most important now.”

Convinced

It looks a very positive step for Sima to be so committed to the Light Blues already and clearly helps with the club’s hopes of keeping at Ibrox.

A player of his ability and age might have seen a season in the SPFL as nothing more than a stepping stone towards a Premier League career with his parent club or elsewhere.

But it seems he has built up a connection with the Gers that has sold him on staying beyond the summer, and on current evidence it is a good thing he has.

Rangers

With 13 goals in 27 Rangers appearances across all competitions he has emerged as the primary goal threat in a squad that has far to little of that, and has already been rewarded with the October player of the month award in the SPFL for his efforts.

Kemar Roofe can’t stay fit, Cyriel Dessers can’t find form, Sam Lammers can’t find much of anything, and Danilo has just been ruled out long-term with a serious knee problem.

As much as the first half of the campaign has been well below expectations, particularly under Michael Beale, things have improved under Clement and Rangers are somehow still in reach of a treble in theory, or even a quadruple depending on developments in Spain.

That may be overly ambitious based on the limitations this squad has exhibited so far, but the scenario would be far bleaker were it not for Sima’s contribution so if an agreement can be reached with Brighton it would be a big positive.
