Fabrizio Romano: ‘Quality’ January update emerges at Rangers with triple transfer on cards

Rangers are looking to add “quality” players over quantity in the January transfer window after a busy summer, according to The Fourth Official.

The online outlet, shared by Fabrizio Romano previously, has insisted that they would be stunned if the Bears sign more than three players before the end of the month.

Philippe Clement is said to want a “proper forward” signed, with a triple transfer seemingly on the cards, with Fabio Silva already arriving on loan from Wolves.

The Fourth Official posted the following on Patreon [7 January] in their most recent update: “Rangers are linked with a lot of strikers, which is not surprising considering Clement wants a proper forward this month.”

But keep in mind that not all rumours are genuine; at least some of them are spread by agents.

“Hopefully, Rangers will prioritise quality over quantity when signing players this window. If they do sign more than two or three, I would be shocked. An added bonus would be if Rangers could move Sam Lammers and other players out during this window. Naturally, easier said than done.

Compared to the summer, when Michael Beale seemed to be throwing a lot at the wall in the hopes that something would stick, this message is already very different.

With a few exceptions, players like Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have not succeeded thus far; however, Rangers require reliable stars in order to succeed both in Europe and at home.

It’s unclear from this update if Silva will have three players after him or if Clement will be the only one strengthened by two more players on top of Silva.

Although the Belgian has already been connected to several players from his previous team at Ibrox, no real progress has been made in the last week.

Still, this is something to keep an eye on because the left back is talented.
