Finance Expert: Points deduction mooted with sanctions on cards after Rangers development

Points deduction decision is made in light of Rangers’ actions – Finance Guru

We are pleased to have Dr. Daniel Plumley, an authority on football finance, as an exclusive columnist. He will share his opinions on the most talked-about topics at Rangers once a week.

After delaying the match against Dundee, Dan Plumley has stated that if supporters continue to breach the rules, Rangers may face fines or a deduction of points in the future.

The Scottish FA decided against sanctioning a club for such incidents following last week’s 5-0 victory at Dens Park, meaning that no club has ever been punished for them.

Since hitting the clubs where it hurts is the only way to stop these things, the finance expert acknowledged that the English FA had already taken swift action against fan behavior and that the Scottish FA would likely follow suit shortly.

He exclusively stated to Ibrox News, “I think that is the ultimate end game with these things, a sanction.”

“The Football Association (FA) in England has been stepping up its enforcement, particularly when it comes to pitch invasions, which have been more common in major games near the end of the season.

You’ve seen fines imposed, and it’s pretty common; if you choose to take the chance of doing that, you do so at your own risk of incurring financial penalties.

In the end, it is not good for the team. Yes, the supporters have a right to express themselves, but doing so can be expensive for the team; instances of this have been reported in England.

“If these things keep happening, you would expect a similar story to start happening in Scotland because, in the end, the only way to stop them is to hit the club where it hurts, which usually means fines or point deductions.

“So far, we’ve only seen fines, but you can see how the sanctions may progress. I have the impression that if it continues, sanctions for Scottish football will soon follow.

In other Rangers news, Plumley has stated that the team can claim they lost out after a deal worth more than £900 million was approved.
