Philippe Clement issues journalist response

As Rangers prepare to play one of their games in hand against St Johnstone at Ibrox, Philippe Clement was asked if last week’s results have built confidence in his squad.

Biting back against the “strange question”, the ex-Club Brugge boss reckons the confidence is already very much in his team given the club’s recent successes.

“It’s a strange question because I had this question already a few times the last couple of days,” said Clement.

“If this team doesn’t have belief, they wouldn’t have done those things last week, so the belief is there. There is no doubt about that.

Rangers manager readies St Johnstone push

Philippe Clement was pulling no punches as he bit back at journalists following the club’s League Cup success at Aberdeen.

hilst the new-look Rangers squad has been under immense pressure this season, the club’s players have found an extra level under the Belgian which they’d lost under Michael Beale.

It’s clear there is plenty of belief in the Ibrox team and now Clement has challenged his squad to “step back in our marathon” as Scottish Premiership duties resume.

Rangers are now tasked with building on the League Cup victory and as Celtic capitulate, there’s a sense a seismic shift in Scottish football could be upon us.
