Rangers ‘approach’ Brighton head of recruitment over technical role according to Fabrizio Romano”

Brighton’s Head of Recruitment Sam Jewell has now been formally approached by Rangers FC to become new Technical Director.

Jewell, considering the proposal but still not convinced about leaving Brighton project at the highest point of club history after excellent job.

Rangers have allegedly made a “approach” to replace Sam Jewell as Brighton’s head of recruitment as technical director.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who first revealed the information on X, claims this.

During the formal introduction of new manager Philippe Clement yesterday, Ibrox CEO James Bisgrove reaffirmed that the Light Blues intend to employ a director of football soon.

Since Ross Wilson left the club to join Nottingham Forest, no one has had the position, and Michael Beale did not have one when he was in it.

According to Bisgrove, “We think we have a really strong group of leaders who will carry out the plan and make important choices, like signing players to contracts or buying new players.

“But all of that said, we do believe a director of football, a technical director is something that would add additional value and it’s a live conversation that we are having at the moment.”

When asked when he could schedule an appointment, he replied, “It will be in the next few weeks, if not months.” Right now, we are conversing in real time.

“There are varying factors involved, based on the people Philippe and the football board feel are the most suitable.

“But, I believe it will be imminent.”

Prior to moving to Brighton in 2018, Jewell worked as chief scout at Swindon Town and opposition scout for Newport County.

After Dan Ashwork joined Newcastle, he worked his way up the ranks of the team and eventually took over as head of recruitment.

Moises Caicedo, who signed with Chelsea for £115 million during the summer transfer window, was made possible in large part by the 31-year-old.
