Rangers boost as FCSB agreed to cash in on midfielder Darius Olaru

According to the Daily Mail, FC Steaua Bucuresti midfielder captain Darius Olaru is highly admired by Rangers and their manager Philippe Clement, and the Romanian team plans to make a move for him next summer.

Rangers trounced FCSB 4-0 last Thursday in their third group phase match of the 2024–25 Europa League season, but the 26-year-old was suspended and could not be selected. Despite this, the Scottish Premiership team is still keeping an eye on him.

But since Olaru’s current deal expires in 2028 and he won’t be available for a low price next summer, the Bears might have to pay top cash to sign him.

After finishing the previous season with 15 goals in 43 games, he has ten goals in 19 appearances this season. Rangers could use a goal-scoring midfielder like him in the middle of the park moving forward.

After nine games, they are already six points behind Aberdeen and Celtic in the league standings, and a loss to the Dons at Pittodrie Stadium tonight could kill their hopes of winning the championship.

The current team doesn’t seem capable of competing with the Hoops, thus Clement might use some better players.

Unfortunately, considering their current financial situation, the Rangers manager may have to wait until next summer to bolster his team.

They will have more luck on the pitch if they sign Olaru, but they are not the only team interested in hiring the Romanian international.

According to their most recent annual records, which were released today, the Bears lost £17.2 million, and they would suffer a significant financial setback if they are not able to qualify for the Champions League next season.

To have a chance of acquiring players who can enhance their squad, they will need to obtain the financial benefits that come with making it to the top European tournament, and it is up to Clement to do it.
