Rangers were scheduled to take on Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday.
Rangers’ Scottish Premiership match against Ross County at Ibrox has been cancelled because the away team was unable to get to Glasgow owing to snow on the A9. The visitors were scheduled to travel south on the day of the game, but due to inclement weather, they were unable to complete their journey.
Rangers issued a statement at 1.15pm, saying, “Rangers can confirm this evening’s Scottish Premiership fixture with Ross County has been postponed.” Despite the fact that the Ibrox playing surface is in fine shape and ready to host the game, bad weather conditions on the A9 have prevented our visitors from reaching Glasgow.”
As a result of Storm Gerrit, some of Scotland’s key A-roads are buried with snow. The A9, which connects the Highlands to Glasgow and Edinburgh, is especially terrible, with several yellow warnings in effect.
And on Wednesday morning, Traffic Scotland took to X (formerly Twitter) to warn drivers: “Traffic heavy this morning in both directions due to adverse weather conditions. @NWTrunkRoads are advising to avoid the route as much as possible and delay travel.”
