Selles’ Responds To Absurd Verdict

The manager of Carlisle United’s comments regarding Reading’s financial problems, according to the visiting coach, had no effect on the team’s “motivation.”

At Brunton Park, Reading easily defeated Carlisle 3-1, demonstrating their superiority over the struggling Cumbrians.
Royals supporters screamed against Simpson throughout the game because he had stated prior to the game that “repeat [financial] offenders” ought to face harsher penalties from the government.

This season, Reading has lost six points due to unrest around their ownership by controversial figure Dai Yongge.

Selles downplayed the suggestion made by two-goal Harvey Knibbs on the social media platform X that he had been thinking about Simpson’s remarks.

“We don’t pay attention to anybody because there is a lot of noise around us,” said Selles to the Reading Chronicle.

“I know he [Simpson] made some comments, but he assured me that the context was not like that.

We had a conversation on the grass, which is the ideal setting. Whether the squad was driven to come here, score goals, and win the game doesn’t matter.

Reading led 2-0 at halftime after to goals from Sam Smith and Knibbs. After the intermission, Knibbs added another goal, making Jon Mellish’s header for the Cumbrians seem insignificant.
As a result, Reading rose to 16th place, moving up four spots. They would be in 13th place if they didn’t lose points.

In a club interview, Selles said, “We wanted to play well and win the game, and that’s what we did.”

“I believe we played really well for the first sixty minutes and were up 3-0. Following that, we loosened our standards, and going forward, we must strengthen our sense of self while we are in charge of the game.

However, it’s also because you’re up against someone who is attempting to reenter the game. We ultimately handled it correctly. The lads had a wonderful experience.

After Mellish got one back, Carlisle attempted to exert additional pressure, but United’s last-ditch attempts were in fruitless when Dan Butterworth was denied a goal by a superb Lewis Wing block.

“We must oversee various stages of the game,” continued Selles, whose team had defeated Carlisle 5-1 earlier in the season.

Although it is not one of our strong points, we did a decent job of practicing the defensive deep block today. One of the things we asked of them was that block from Wingy.
