Unrealistic transfer claim made amid Reading FC stint”

Paul Mukairu has been on loan at Reading since the start of the League One season from Copenhagen.

Reading FC’s season is still in disarray due to the outcry from supporters over their ever-increasing point deduction. The club’s financial situation makes it difficult to predict who they will sign in the summer, and they appear destined to play in the third division.

Following a six-point deduction under owner Dai Yongge, the Royals were relegated at Cardiff’s expense last season. This season, they have been demoted eight times. Initially, Reading was firmly at the bottom of the table after a poor start to the season, but a late-season surge has moved them closer to mid-table than the bottom four.

In any case, it appears that the Berkshire team will play in the third division again the next season. This situation won’t be made any easier by a transfer ban that prevents them from collecting fees for the whole season, which may make a move for current loan signing Paul Mukairu uncertain.

What Reading’s fan pundit has said about Paul Mukairu

According to Johnny Hunt, a fan of FLW’s Reading FC, Mukairu is an improbable target given Reading’s precarious financial situation.

“Paul Mukairu is inconsistently consistent at the best of times, I think,” Johnny stated to FLW. He can produce some really great moments, but I suppose that’s why he’s with us and not always performing at a higher level. He has the pace, but occasionally the last ball is simply lacking.

“Who knows what the team can do in the summer given their current situation. Many are excluded because we are unable to cover players’ transfer fees. If we can get loans in, loan signings may occur, but I’m not sure.

How Paul Mukairu has fared at Reading during his loan spell

This season, Mukairu has struggled to establish himself in League One, but he has excelled in the EFL Trophy, recording three goals and three assists in just five games.

Mukairu didn’t score a goal in the league until the very last game of 2023. He equalised in a 2-2 draw with fellow struggling team Cheltenham, then scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over promotion-chasing Derby at the end of January.
