Mike Ashley appears to be the front-runner to buy Reading FC as Royals fans hope to see an end to Dai Yongge’s failing ownership of the club.
Many Royals supporters are relieved that Mike Ashley is the front-runner to purchase Reading FC, since they have grown weary of Dai Yongge’s poor management.
Given that his firm already has a sizable amount of cash on hand, Kieran Maguire doesn’t think Ashley’s Frasers Group’s decision to sell Missguided has anything to do with his ownership of the team.
Ashley is a better choice for Reading FC than Dai Yongge because of his knowledge and steadiness in the financial arena, notwithstanding his contentious ownership of Newcastle United.
In response to Mike Ashley’s purported proposal to acquire Reading FC, football financial specialist Kieran Maguire has made a statement.
As Royals supporters want to see Dai Yongge’s failed ownership of the team come to an end as soon as possible, Mike Ashley seems to be the front-runner to purchase Reading FC.
Entrepreneur Will Storey is another bidder who has expressed interest.
Due in part to Yongge’s failure to deliver the necessary funds, the Royals were docked four points, which has put them in the relegation zone in League One.
“Some Reading fans have been asking if Mike Ashley selling Missguided is a prelude to him buying (the) Royals,” Kieran Maguire said in a post on X.
“I don’t think that’s the case, mainly because MA’s MASH Holdings already has over £1/2 billion cash in the bank account.”
Maguire also included a picture of MASH Holdings Limited’s group balance sheet, which includes data as of April 24, 2022, beneath this text.
Before being recently sold to Shein, Ashley’s Frasers Group controlled the women’s fashion company Missguided.
Ashley employs MASH Holdings as the corporation to manage all of his business interests.
Kieran Maguire’s X article suggests that Ashley’s sale of Missguided coincidentally aligns with his interest in Reading FC.
Ashley’s interest in the Royals reportedly led to Frasers Group helicopters landing outside the Select Car Leasing Stadium yesterday.
Would the Royals be better off with Mike Ashley in charge?
To be honest, Royals supporters would like nearly anybody else to be in charge of the team right now instead than Dai Yongge.
His mishandling of his finances has resulted in many deductions.
Yongge is already facing charges for not paying the football team’s monthly salaries.
Furthermore, the club has also violated tax duties, leading to additional sanctions including a transfer embargo.
However, Mike Ashley wasn’t exactly a well-liked Newcastle United owner.
It was common for Newcastle supporters to voice their disapproval of Sports Direct’s glaring advertisement at St. James’ Park.
However, Mike Ashley, who owned Newcastle United for 14 years, at least has a wealth of football ownership knowledge.
Ashley doesn’t seem like she would run Reading into the ground the way Dai Yongge has.
To show their disapproval of Yongge’s ownership of the team, Reading supporters assembled in huge numbers and marched from Reading town centre to the Select Car Leasing stadium prior to Saturday’s matchup against league leaders Portsmouth.
Lewis Wing and Charlie Savage’s goals in the first half gave Reading a 2-0 advantage on Saturday.
But by the 58th minute, Colby Bishop had helped Terry Devlin score his first goal of the League One season, giving Portsmouth a 3-2 lead.
This Saturday’s loss was the team’s fifth straight setback as they struggle both on and off the pitch.
The Royals require a takeover in order to prevent consecutive relegations, since they now appear bound for League Two.
