The largest ownership protest in Reading in forty years will take place at the same time as Pompey’s visit to the Madejski Stadium.
It is also being asked of the Fratton supporters to become involved, joining forces with other supporters in the fight against their owners.
Reading has lost 16 points in three seasons under Dai Yongge, who is under pressure. The Royals have also been hit with a transfer ban that will last until January 2025, and it is thought that they owe their owner over £100 million.
After previous demonstrations against Burton and Bolton that featured tennis balls being thrown onto the field during games, the Chinese tycoon has decided to avoid the Madejski Stadium.
Amidst growing concerns about their team’s future, supporters are intensifying their protests ahead of Pompey’s visit on Saturday and advocating for a shift in football administration.
Over a thousand people are anticipated for the pre-match march organized by the protest organization “Sell Before We Dai,” which will take place from Reading’s downtown to the stadium.
Additionally, supporters of Pompey are urged to participate in the two-mile walk as a sign of solidarity.
The News was informed by Alex Everson of “Sell Before We Dai” that “we can’t force him to sell; that’s not how business works,” but “it’s very likely going to be administration if a sale doesn’t happen in the next few months.”
All we can do as supporters is express our emotions and put pressure on him to sell, almost embarrassingly.
The goal here is to preserve Reading. Unless something changes, we are in terrible shape and are falling into the abyss without any resistance or battle.
“The club has no money and is paying £1.5 million in ground rent annually, making it completely unaffordable for it to operate in League Two.” Everything in the club is out of their reach, save the essentials.
“The club is losing a tonne of money, but there has been no communication and everything is based on rumours and speculation.” Based on the most recent accounting, we owed the owner £90 million. Now, that has gone up.
If the owner doesn’t sell, there is no way out. Devoted Reading supporters are gradually giving up on him since he doesn’t care and doesn’t want to be there any longer.
The largest demonstration since supporters protested Robert Maxwell’s proposal to combine Reading and Oxford United to form the Thames Valley Royals in 1983 is expected to take place on Saturday.
“We’re hoping for about 1,000 supporters to join us, and it would be amazing if Pompey fans came too, proving that football fans can come together.”
It is recommended that everyone interested in participating in the “Sell Before We Dai” march gather on Saturday in Reading’s town centre at the Blue Collar Corner pub at 12 p.m. for a 12.30 p.m. start.
They are expected to arrive at Madejski Stadium around 1:45 pm, when remarks will be held in the supporter zone section of the club.
As of right now, no demonstrations are scheduled for the Pompey game. Pompey leads League One by four points at the moment.
