Reading FC legend leads fans protest march to Mad Stad

READING FC legend Dave Kitson helped to lead the latest protest against club owner Dai Yongge as fans marched from the town centre to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Thousands of Reading fans gathered at Blue Collar Corner in the town centre as they united once again to show their disdain for the club’s ownership.

The protest march began at 12:30 and is scheduled to reach the SCL at around 2:00 pm.

The club has experienced many point deductions, transfer bans, staff wage arrears, relegation from the Championship to League One, and the prospect of administration under the current ownership.

Sell Before We Dai, a protest group, released a statement saying, “We have had enough.” We’d like him gone. We wish to regain our club.

“That’s why we are calling on all Reading fans to join us in a massive demonstration ahead of the Portsmouth game. We want to show Dai Yongge that he is not welcome here. That we are united, passionate and proud. That we are the beating heart of Reading FC. That we will not give up until he is gone.”

Reading East MP Matt Rodda added: “I am very concerned about the situation at Reading Football Club and I am working with the Sell Before We Dai Campaign and other supporters.

“I am calling on the Government to bring forward legislation to set up a regulator for football, and I hope that the club can be bought by a suitable new owner who will invest in the club and help it get back into the Championship. Reading should pilot this new approach to help protect the interests of players, fans, and football clubs.”
