Blackpool have shipped 32 league goals already this season and are reported to want to add to their pool of defensive players
Charlton defender Terell Thomas is reportedly a target for Blackpool.
According to Football Insider, Seasiders manager Neil Critchley is interested in the seasoned player who can play left back or in the centre of defence. However, if the rumours about their race are to be believed, Thomas, who recently fell out of The Valley’s favour, is up against two other contenders. In fact, it’s been reported that, in advance of the January transfer window, the 28-year-old’s circumstances with the Addicks are being watched by his former team, Reading.
In his career, Thomas has also appeared for Wigan, Crewe, and AFC Wimbledon. He has started just two of Michael Appleton’s team’s last 11 league games and has spent the last three games on the bench for Charlton. Since joining the south London team on a free transfer from Reading in the summer of 2022, he has made 37 appearances. Furthermore, Charlton is reportedly willing to pay a premium for the defender next month because his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
Appleton, the former manager of Blackpool, is eager to establish his own authority on the team he took over after being appointed manager of Addicks at the end of the summer transfer window in September.
Charlton is currently four spots and seven points behind Blackpool in the League One standings, in 12th place. The Addicks have dropped their last two league games, just like the Seasiders. They seem to be more inconsistent than Blackpool, though, as Charlton hasn’t won a league game since November 28. On December 23, Blackpool defeated Bristol Rovers 3-1; however, they have since suffered defeats to Burton and Port Vale.
It is said that Critchley is eager to strengthen the Seasiders defence, which has given up 32 goals in 25 games in the third division.
