Though the retiring midfielder had his followers laughing heartily on the internet, Hendry took a go at his former opponent by demonstrating what he “coulda won”.
When Paul Gascoigne made a joke about the clocks turning back this weekend, it had his supporters in stitches. But the captain of Scotland took a go at his former rival, making fun of his collection of trophies.
In a memorable match at Wembley in 1996, the Rangers great defeated the former Scotland captain in an Auld Enemy encounter. During the Euro 96 match, he flicked the ball over Hendry’s head and then fired past Andy Goram, the Scotland custodian at the time who was a colleague of his at the Rangers.
And as the clocks moved back one hour to commemorate the end of British Summer Time, the 56-year-old football humorist delighted in reliving the goal from the previous weekend.
Posting a video of the goal on Twitter, he went by the handle X and wrote: “Just rang Colin to let him know the clocks have gone back ha ha.” The video has received over 100,000 views.
However, the 57-year-old Hendry was more than willing to confront Gazza once more and respond with a barb of his own. He uploaded a photo of the FA Premier League trophy on his social media.
In 1995, Hendry led Blackburn, who was then coached by Scottish icon Kenny Dalglish, to victory. “Good to see I’m in your thoughts, Gazza,” he added. and here is the summit that you “may have” won.

Some supporters declared it to be the greatest goal they had ever seen, while other Scottish Rangers supporters claimed it simultaneously astonished and devastated them.
Gazza left the Rangers at the end of the 1997–1998 season, while Hendry joined at the start of the 1998–1999 campaign, therefore although they both played for the team in 1998, they were never teammates at Ibrox.
