The Rotherham United manager search began earlier this week with the departure of Matt Taylor. The 41-year-old took over for Paul Warne in the previous season, but he was stripped of his responsibilities due to a subpar start to the campaign, even though he had guided them to survival the previous year.
His final game in charge was the weekend’s 5-0 loss to Watford, and the Millers are already looking for a replacement.
The club will likely not have a new manager in place before they play Leeds United following the international break, according to chairman Tony Stewart, who has stated that the team will be patient in their search. Now, there’s more information on Chris Wilder’s possible relocation.
The 56-year-old was seen as a possible candidate, but according to the Rotherham Advertiser, he is no longer in the race since he believes he will find his next position elsewhere.
The fact that the goal isn’t to appoint a new manager during the international break may surprise supporters of Rotherham United. But with Taylor receiving strong support throughout the summer, this appointment is crucial since it will determine not only their attempt to survive but also their future course.
Wilder would have been a wonderful fit for the position given his experience in the Championship, but it doesn’t appear like he will be getting the job. Since leaving Watford at the conclusion of his temporary contract in the summer, he has not had a job.
It will be interesting to watch who replaces Taylor as the Millers search for a manager who can keep them in the second division once more. They seem to be taking their time in the search.
Four points from safety, in 22nd place in the Championship standings, is Rotherham United.
