Evans Says Millers Were ‘Second Best’

The players’ performance on Saturday was described by Rotherham United manager Steve Evans as “very workmanlike” on the official website.

The Millers Boss stated that City were the superior team following the team’s two-nil loss on the road against Bristol City. “There were a couple of key moments in the first half that could change a game because goals do change games,” the boss said. I’m quite upset with the referee’s decision because Tom Eaves went through and ought to have done better than to hit the custodian, and then they were awarded a penalty for what appeared to be a dive. I believe the boy jumped over Dillon (Phillips) after overrunning the ball. They get a lot of momentum from that, but we persevere since their boy has a unique free-kick and then at any stage it didn’t look like we could score a goal. But we never gave up at any stage today or last week which is a step in the right direction

“There’s a lot of learning I’m doing right now, but I really feel bad for our fans who have to travel far to see that kind of performance all season long. There are good things happening, but more will come in the summer.”

“There were two sides to Tom’s game today,” the manager stated in reference to striker Tom Eaves. He worked really hard, in my opinion, and didn’t offer their defenders a moment of quiet. However, that first-half moment was crucial for us, and Bristol City might become a little uneasy if you quickly go ahead. But attackers waste opportunities.

“Although I’m now learning a lot, I feel terrible for our supporters who have to travel great distances to witness that calibre of play all season long. Positive things are occurring, and the summer will bring more.”

The manager said of striker Tom Eaves, “There were two sides to his game today.” He put in a lot of effort, in my opinion, and didn’t give their defenders a minute to relax. But that first-half moment was critical for us, and if you score soon, Bristol City could become a little nervous. Attackers, however, squander chances.
