Former Southampton player projects victory at Rotherham*

Former Saints player David Prutton believes his old team will defeat Rotherham United on Saturday and maintain their “incredible” streak.

Currently on a 22-game winning streak, Russell Martin’s team will be looking to put further pressure on their opponents for promotion with a victory.

The Millers have not yet claimed a victory in 2024, but they have drawn three of their previous five games; therefore, the Saints might not have an easy time at New York Stadium.

In his podcast for Sky Sports, Prutton—a 2003–07 Southampton player—spoke about his predictions for the Championship.

The 42-year-old predicted a 3-1 victory, saying, “Leam Richardson has clearly improved Rotherham.

“However, they still need to start winning games instead of drawing them since they are nine points out of safety.

That is not likely to occur against Southampton, who are currently the top team in the Championship. They’ve been playing amazing lately.

“The unbeaten run is stretching and stretching, and it will stretch a little further with victory at the New York (Stadium).”

But, he does not anticipate that the promotion battle will change over the course of the weekend because he is also betting on Leeds United, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town to win.
