Rotherham United are absolutely delighted as they land Iconic award..

With the help of our fantastic Community Trust, the Millers saw off competition from Watford and Northampton Town for the top prize at the League’s annual ceremony, which took place in London on Sunday 14th April.

The Millers received special praise for their ‘Go Green’ campaign,  which was the driving force behind a number of separate initiatives, including the highly successful #TidyUpOurTown scheme, Swap Shop and Top Ten Tips guide.

Staff from our Community Trust have worked tirelessly alongside first team players and volunteers throughout the year and beyond, as we look to make Rotherham United a more green and sustainable football club, with the work receiving special recognition from the EFL, winning the coveted Green Club Award.

Jonny Allan, Community Programme Manager, spoke after the Millers’ victory at the EFL Awards, according to www.themillers.co.uk.

“It goes without saying that receiving such a distinguished honour makes us happy and proud.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has put in many hours of work over many months to make this all happen.

“Every employee, volunteer, first team player, and staff member who has consistently been willing to donate their time to support our efforts has been instrumental in enabling us to achieve this success,” the statement reads.

“I want to thank our former striker Georgie Kelly in particular for his invaluable assistance with several of our projects, most notably the inauguration of our Swap Shop programme.

“Our goal has always been to make Rotherham United a more environmentally conscious football team. Winning this award is certainly wonderful, but we want to keep up the good work we’ve already started.”
