Rotherham United FC leads race in pursuit of Championship Midfielder

The 34-year-old has been a stalwart of the Sky Blues’ side for the past seven years, which has seen him be involved in two separate promotions, as well as an FA Cup semi-final and a Championship play-off campaign. Throughout that time, the midfielder made 180 appearances for Mark Robins’ side.

Before moving to Bristol City, which is located south of the border, Liam Kelly  started his career at Kilmarnock. Before relocating to Coventry, he had worked for Leyton Orient and Oldham Athletic, two more EFL teams.

But the team announced that he won’t be receiving a new contract, therefore this season will be his last with them. As a result, clubs are already after him, and his future is now uncertain.

Rotherham is the only team mentioned as being in the running, despite reports that two other “strong” League One teams are considering a move for the veteran. The Millers have already signed Joe Powell, Shaun McWilliams, Jonson Clarke-Harris, Reece James, Joe Rafferty, and Sean Raggett on free deals; if they were to land their man, it would be their sixth signing of the window.

Steve Evans is known for moving teams around early, and this season has been no different with the other 23 League One clubs making a total of just seven transfers thus far.
