Rotherham United’s summer signing spree now includes four League One promotion winners

Wild was manager at The Shay for three seasons and twice led Town into the National League play-offs.

He just missed out on guiding Barrow into the League Two play-offs this season.

Sean Raggett, a 31 year-old centre-back who made 44 appearances in all competitions for Portsmouth as they won League One last season, became the fifth signing for former Peterborough United boss Steve Evans when agreeing a two-year contract yesterday.

He joins striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, left-back Reece James, midfielder Shaun McWilliams and right-back Joe Rafferty as Millers newcomers. Rafferty was also part of Pompey’s successful squad last season, while Clarke-Harris (Posh) and James (Sheffield Wednesday) have also won recent promotions from League One.

Evans still has to make a few more acquisitions for Posh than he did during his one and only summer there. He scored eighteen goals throughout the preseason and five more in January, but with Posh in a play-off spot at the end of the month, he was fired early.

Elsewhere in League One Stevenage, who have confirmed Alex Revell is Steve Evans’ replacement as their manager, have signed forward Louis Appere who was out of contract at Northampton Town.

Newly-promoted Stockport County have made midfielder/defender Jay Mingi their first summer signing for an undisclosed fee from Colchester United.
