After asserting that there is a “genuine United connection” at Salford City, Ryan Giggs disclosed that another club veteran “loves” to watch home games.
Together with former teammates Nicky Butt, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, David Beckham, and Paul Scholes, the Manchester United icon is a co-owner of Salford City.
In 2014, five renowned members of the Class of ’92 assumed leadership of the club, with billionaire Singaporean Peter Lim acquiring a 50% share at that time.
David Beckham, another member of the Class of ’92, executed a fractional purchase from Peter Lim in 2019 to acquire his 10% ownership in Salford City.
When Ryan Giggs and company finished taking over the club, Salford City was playing in Division One North of the Northern Premier League.
The team, led by Karl Robinson, is now in League Two and has won the EFL Trophy, which is owned by Lim and the Class of ’92.
After he left his position as Wales manager in 2022, Giggs previously turned down the chance to become a manager at Salford City.
The League Two team has hired the 50-year-old former United great, though, and this is his first job since he was exonerated of all charges against him in 2023.
The icon of Manchester United, Ryan Giggs, has talked openly about his future in the game and hasn’t ruled out going back into management when the perfect opportunity arises.
During a recent visit to the Radlett Centre, the former manager of Wales talked candidly about Salford City’s achievements under the Class of ’92.
Giggs disclosed that Steve Bruce and Roy Keane, two former Manchester United teammates, go to Salford City games at Moor Lane.
Son Manchester United great Steve Bruce, Alex Bruce joined Salford City’s coaching staff under Karl Robinson in February.
Giggs stated that Roy Keane has “loved” attending Salford City games, adding that there is a “real” bond between Salford City and United.
“We love it,” he declared, addressing the Radlett audience (via The Athletic).
“Gary, Nicky, Scholesy, and me. Since Phil and Becks are in America, they don’t attend many games. However, the other boys do.
Roy Keane enjoys attending home games. Because his son Alex is now assistant manager, Steve Bruce is here. Thus, there is a true connection to United.
