Wrexham determined to snap up Salford City man before window closes in fresh bid#

Football Insider reports that Salford City has turned down a bid from Wrexham for Luke Bolton.
Before the transfer window closes, Wrexham is reportedly interested in luring the right wing-back to the Racecourse Ground.

Throughout the first half of this season, Bolton, 24, has made 22 appearances across all competitions and has contributed four assists.

According to Football Insider, the Ammies rejected an offer made to Phil Parkinson’s team. Whether they return before the transfer window closes is still to be seen.

Wrexham offer snubbed

Bolton may be seen by Wrexham as a way to strengthen their team as they aim to move up from League Two. Still, they will have to pay more money to convince Salford to sell him.

After this season, his contract expires, and in the summer, he will be a free agent. If the Ammies don’t make a move this winter to sign an extension at Peninsula Stadium before late June, they run the risk of losing him for nothing.

Barnsley was considering the Stockport native last summer, and the Tykes rejected a £400,000 offer for him, according to BBC Sport (live transfer blog, 10.07.23, 8.27).

Bolton graduated from the Manchester City youth programme. At different youth levels, he was a regular for the Premier League giants and worked his way up through the ranks at Etihad Stadium.

Under Pep Guardiola, he never made a senior appearance, but he did receive some experience while on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, Luton Town, and Dundee United.

After permanently leaving in 2022 to join Salford, the former England youth international has been an important member of the Ammies. Last season, he assisted them in making it to the play-offs, but Stockport County defeated them in the semifinals.
