The club have had a rough off season losing Ken Sio who was released on compassionate leave. The Red Devils are also reportedly set to lose Joe Burgess after a reported disciplinary incident.
This has left them in the market for a winger but also a prop to boost their forward pack. In a silver lining to their current woes is the opening of a quota spot after the loss of Ken Sio which opens the door for Salford to sign Ben Nakubuwai from Leigh Leopards.
According to sources, the excellent prop is set to leave Leigh ahead of the new season, with the club set to release him in order to sign Tristan Sailor.
Salford might make a bid for the prop ahead of the new season, which would be a wonderful Christmas present for Salford supporters.
Members of the Salford Red Devils men’s and women’s teams have been volunteering at local charity Home-Start Trafford, Salford & Wigan.
They are a locally owned, volunteer group that operates as an independent Charitable Company, with a Board of Trustees comprised of local professional volunteers.
As the holiday season approaches, Home-Start has received some fantastic toy gifts from local charities and corporate partners.
They then had less than 24 hours to put together 200 sacks of presents for the children they are currently helping before delivering them to families in the hopes of making Christmas less stressful for parents.
Adam Sidlow, Ollie Partington, Matty Foster, Summer Harris, Abi Collins and Laura Bent went down to their centre earlier last week to help organise and fill the sacks of presents.
Kathryn Eckersley, Managing Director of Home-Start has said: “Thank you on behalf of all the families for this year’s wonderful donations.
“We are very grateful too for the extra help we have received from the Salford Red Devils rugby players and their team, to get them all organised and ready to be delivered to the hundreds of children we are currently supporting.
“We are overwhelmed by people’s kindness and generosity, as one mum said: ‘The kids wont think I’ve been naughty this year because thanks to you there is now a little present under the tree for me too!”
“As a community club, we know how important it is to help out local charities and organisations,” said Paul King, Managing Director of Salford Red Devils.
“Home-Start does some incredible things for families, especially around the holidays, so it was a pleasure to be a part of their initiative, and it was great to see the players visit their centre earlier last week to help out.”
