Although Preston North End had one of their better transfer windows in a long time, there is still a question over one position.
Although we have recently been critical of North End’s recruiting, following an outstanding summer, we can’t really complain.
Along with some forays into the European market, championship performers Jack Whatmough, Will Keane, and Duane Holmes were acquired.
PNE took some strategic chances, but Mads Frøkjaer-Jensen, Liam Millar, and Milutin Osmajic came in from teams all over the continent.
We had really hoped to see this combination at PNE—championship experience combined with some promising European imports—but one thing is still up in the air.
PNE lost out on left wing backs throughout the summer, and North End needed a left wing back going into the summer window.

After returning to Manchester United, Alvaro Fernandez made it apparent that he wasn’t actually searching for a new loan at PNE.
Yasser Larouci, who was interested in joining PNE from Troyes, ultimately decided to sign with Sheffield United as the Blades had taken advantage of North End’s transfer.
Josh Wilson-Esbrand of Manchester City was the next player to go up, but French team Reims defeated North End.
Although there were connections to players like Grimsby Town’s Anthony Glennon and Alex Bangura, North End was unable to sign a qualified left wing back at the end of the summer transfer season.
Fans of North End are still worried about the left wing back.
Due to Robbie Brady’s injury, rookie Kian Best began the season at left wing back and had both highs and lows.
Best gave an excellent assist against Sheffield Wednesday, but his defensive game didn’t appear quite ready for the Championship.
Final day of signing Although Millar has played wing back as well, it is obvious that he is a better winger and would rather be on the attack.

Brady has been back in action lately, but after missing time due to an injury, he appears a touch rusty.
When Brady was replaced against Millwall on Saturday, there were jeers and sarcastic applause directed at him that we cannot endorse.
Brady is still getting back into shape after demonstrating his abilities in the past, so the sarcastic applause isn’t really welcome.
Brady is expected to return to form shortly, but come January, more established competition could be required in that part of the pitch.
