Blades man has ‘justified spot’ as Blades allow youngster to leave Bramall’

Sheffield United are busy preparing for Sunday’s huge Premier League clash with Wolves at Molineux. The Blades have already beaten Wolves once this season and Chris Wilder’s side will be hopeful of picking up another huge win on the road this weekend.

Ahead of the clash, here’s a round-up of some of the biggest Blades news out there.

Carl Asaba, a former Blades star, claims that Wes Foderingham has earned his place between the Sheffield United goalkeepers. Foderingham’s Premier League performances in recent months have drawn harsh criticism, and he was initially left out of Chris Wilder’s starting lineup following the signing of Ivo Grbic.
However, Foderingham’s comeback to the team was made possible by the head injury the Croatian sustained against Crystal Palace. He subsequently contributed significantly to the Blades’ victory over Luton Town before having a difficult game at home against Brighton with the rest of the team.

But Asaba thinks it’s more than reasonable that he will be expected to start this weekend against Wolves.

According to Sheffield United News, Asaba stated, “We spoke when the new keeper signed that that’s not necessarily Wes out the door.” The manager will select players based on their abilities, and Wes provided evidence for his participation in the winning Luton team once Grbic had fully recovered from his concussion. He produced some excellent saves against Brighton, in my opinion.

Sheffield United academy graduate Nicksoen Gomis has signed a permanent deal with MLS side Toronto FC. Gomis, who spent the best part of six years in the Blades’ youth ranks, joined up with Toronto during the club’s pre-season campaign on trial and has now put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

“We are delighted to add Nicksoen to our club after a successful pre-season trial,” said Jason Hernandez, Toronto’s general manager. “Nicksoen quickly demonstrated his quality in defence and integrated seamlessly into our First Team environment. He arrives with a strong pedigree, having formative years at distinguished European platforms. We are confident he will continue to grow within the team over the 2024 season and beyond.”
