Chris Wilder vows to find out who has been leaking Blades team news’

Chris Wilder has branded the person responsible for leaking Sheffield United’s team news an ‘absolute joke’ and has vowed to find the culprit.

The Daily Mail reports that the Blades’ starting XI for recent games was published on WhatsApp and other social media platforms on the morning of their games. Team news is generally announced an hour before a game, but following these leaks, manager Wilder is determined to find the culprit.

WHAT CHRIS WILDER SAID

Ahead of Boxing Day’s home clash against fellow strugglers Luton Town, he said: “I think it’s a joke. Whoever did it, they’ve got another thing coming because they’re harming the football club.

“Everybody will know the team [for Boxing Day] anyway because it will come out on Twitter at about half 10 in the morning. I will comment on it. It’s quite difficult to keep the team quiet but I’m not happy about that situation. Whoever did it, I appreciate that. Thanks very much. I’m going to have to tighten everything up around the training ground. It’s a lesson learnt for me as well. That person who did it. Call yourself a Sheffield United fan? I don’t think they are. It’s an absolute joke.”

Wilder has started his second stint at United with one win, one draw, and two losses. They are still bottom of the Premier League, and reports like this indicate that things are not going well at the Blades. Despite a difficult first half of the season, they are only five points from safety.

WHAT NEXT?

Following the Luton game, United will finish the year at the Etihad Stadium against defending Premier League winners Manchester City on December 30. While the game is less winnable, they will want to win all three points against the Hatters at home.
