Club chairman confirms Southampton approached with Owls deal

Dejphon Chansiri, the chairman of Sheffield Wednesday, acknowledged that Southampton had enquired about the possibility of hiring their manager, Danny Rohl.

There have been some recent transfers involving Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton. Shea Charles, a gifted midfielder, was also sent on loan to the Championship team by the Saints in August.

Although the loan period was very successful, it appears that their relationship has degenerated since then.

Southampton used their January loan from Sheffield Wednesday to get Shea Charles yesterday. They might now be persuaded to loan him to Sheffield United, their city rivals.

It makes sense that Sheffield Wednesday has not taken kindly to these events. Their chairman has already spoken out on yet another failed agreement between the two teams.

The move in discussion was Southampton’s desire to sign Danny Rohl, the manager of Sheffield Wednesday.

Club chairman confirms Southampton approached their manager before hiring Juric

Answering Sheffield Wednesday fans in Wednesday’s fan forum, chairman Dejphon Chansiri said: “We mentioned (there is) something at the beginning we can’t go into detail. I can confirm there was contact from Southampton.

Before bringing in Ivan Juric, Southampton was rumoured to have considered recruiting Danny Rohl as their new manager. Despite being a younger manager than Juric, Rohl’s record in the Championship speaks for itself.

In addition, Rohl had worked at Southampton as Ralph Hassenhuttl’s assistant. Therefore, it made sense to sign him, and the Saints chose Rohl above other players.

However, ultimately, nothing significant occurred with reference to Rohl and Southampton. Additionally, the study notes that Dejphon Chansiri chose not to examine Southampton’s strategy in great detail.

The loan from Shea Charles may have contributed to the Rohl deal’s failure. Southampton may have rejected Sheffield Wednesday’s prior request to hold onto Charles until June.

As a result, they also rejected Southampton’s offer to sign Danny Rohl.

Ivan Juric was hired as the Saints’ new manager in order to move on from that incident. Whether or not that was a wise choice will only become clear with time.
