Exclusive: Chris Wilder set for dramatic return with Sheffield United poised to sack manager.

According to TEAMtalk, Sheffield United is getting ready to fire manager Paul Heckingbottom as the board becomes increasingly alarmed about the team’s on-field results and the possibility of being demoted from the Premier League.

Chris Wilder, a previous manager and fan favourite, will be appointed by the Blades, and they have already started assembling a package to lure their old boss back.

If Arsenal wins resoundingly this Sunday, Heckingbottom will be fired.

Some sources claim that the under-pressure coach will be fired by Monday of next week and that it won’t even need a significant loss for him to be fired. With United at the bottom of the standings with only one point from their first nine Premier League games of the season, the transfer would not come as a surprise.

According to TEAMtalk, the club and Wilder have met twice this week to discuss his reappointment. The 56-year-old, a supporter of the team, has declined employment offers from the United States in the last two weeks in order to return to Bramall Lane.

The English coach will have a long-term contract in place, according to sources, however some say it will only be for three years.

Heckingbottom led Sheffield United back to the top flight the previo

us season following an extremely successful Championship campaign in which they earned automatic promotion by finishing second to Burnley, captained by Vincent Kompany.

The supporters warmed up to the manager right once, as they watched as their team dominated second-tier rivals, ranking among the division’s top scorers and earning a trip back to the Premier League after their 2021 relegation.

Chris Wilder will make a stunning comeback to Sheffield United.
Heckingbottom and his team have not had a pleasant season, either, as they have yet to secure a victory and have been the whipping boys. Their lone point thus far came from a home 2-2 tie.

In addition, they have let up the most goals of any of the 20 clubs in the league and have the lowest goal differential—they famously gave up eight goals at home against Newcastle at the end of September.

Although Wilder resigned as Blades manager in March 2021, he had an outstanding season in 2019–20, leading Sheffield United to ninth place in the Premier League for the first time since 2006–07. Just two years had passed since Wilder’s League 1 promotion to the Premier League.

Although there were rumours at the time of a dispute between Wilder and the club owner, many supporters thought his dismissal was unjust, and the board is now going back to their former boss.
