Sheffield United are preparing for a return to Championship football and there is set to be big changes to the playing ranks at Bramall Lane.
A number of senior players are moving on while key assets could be sold. It means the Blades will need to sign new stars, but the uncertainty over their takeover could impact proceedings.
Now, though, rumors are starting to surface regarding a possible trade for Harrison Burrows, the standout player for Peterborough United who is approaching the end of his contract at London Road.
According to The Peterborough Telegraph, Burrows, 22, is scheduled for a medical examination in Sheffield later this week in anticipation of a possible transfer. Posh, they continue, has declined to comment on the situation.Following his incredible 2023–24 season, Sheffield United would have to shell out a sizable amount for the left-back.
Burrows played 58 games with the League One team, tallying 12 goals and 18 assists. Halfway through the season, he also took on the position of club captain, showcasing his leadership skills with his home team.
On the move
Having enjoyed such a strong season with Peterborough United, it has felt like an inevitability that Burrows will move on from London Road after falling short of promotion.
Burrows had the best season of his career by far, and although Darren Ferguson’s team suffered heartbreak, Posh won the EFL Trophy Final at Wembley. Burrows won the trophy with two goals in the 2-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers.
Whether Sheffield United plans to sign him is still up in the air. As previously stated, the takeover drama implies that any financial signings will come as a shock, and Peterborough has been evasive when pressed on the subject.
Burrows should still advance to the Championship, but only time will tell if he chooses to join the Blades.
