Report: Sheffield United could now move to sign Premier League winning goalkeeper:

Sheffield United are among the clubs who’d be open to signing former Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the January window.

United have seen Wes Foderingham make a number of big mistakes in recent weeks and Chris Wilder only said in his presser yesterday that players needed to play well to get into the team, and play well to stay in the team.

Foderingham has yet to sign a new contract with United as well, putting his future further in doubt.

And now, according to TalkSPORT, the Blades could make a move for experienced stopper Schmeichel.

TalkSPORT reports how Schmeichel, who is currently at Anderlecht, would be open to a move back to the Premier League if the right chance comes up.

Of course, United’s predicament at the bottom means it’s going to be hard to attract players.

It’s quite clear that United need to add to the goalkeeping department at some point. Foderingham has been so good for a while but something has affected him this season and that’s going into the defenders as well.

Schmeichel would be a smart signing by the Blades to tackle a problem in the short-term.

This is an experienced international goalkeeper who has won the Premier League and has the highest of standards. Sometimes, that’s what’s needed at a club like ours, simply to drive the levels in training if anything else.

Most Blades fans would surely be open to landing Schmeichel. If he can come for free, on a decent enough wage and do a job for six months to help us take points, then it’s a good move.
