Sheffield United offer PSG goalkeeper chance to EPL as talks in progress:

Sheffield United are keen to offer Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Keylor Navas another chance in the Premier League in January as they look to improve their options between the sticks.

HITC Football understands that the Champions League-winning goalkeeper is on Chris Wilder’s radar as he looks to drag the Blades to safety.

Wilder wants a new goalkeeper and we are told that as well as looking at bringing Kasper Schmeichel back to England, they are also interested in Keylor Navas – who Nottingham Forest are looking at bringing to the City Ground this month.

Sheffield United are also looking to sign winger Jack Clarke from Sunderland.

Sheffield United need new signings

After a difficult start to the season, Sheffield United’s owners were forced to make a tough decision and let Paul Heckingbottom go after he guided the team to promotion last season.

A 5-0 defeat at the hands of fellow newly-promoted side Burnley was the final straw and Sheffield United turned to a familiar face to try and keep them in the Premier League.

Chris Wilder’s first top-flight season with the Blades was incredible, but he was let go before the end of their second Premier League campaign.

Now he’s back, he wants January reinforcements and HITC Football understands that he is keen to bring Keylor Navas to Sheffield United.

The Costa Rican helped keep Nottingham Forest in the Premier League last season when he arrived on loan 12 months ago.

Hailed as ‘amazing’ by Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes for thwarting him during a brilliant 2-0 win at the City Ground in April, Navas would certainly have plenty to do if brought in by the Blades this month.

Navas has been on sidelines for PSG

There might be a slight worry for Sheffield United fans that the last time Navas played a league match was during his time at Nottingham Forest last season.

Since then, he’s sat and watched from the sidelines at PSG, with an injury ruling him out since the end of October.

However, Navas has been pictured back in training in the past few days, meaning he would be available for a January move if Sheffield United opt for him over Kasper Schmeichel.

Where would Navas move leave current first choice Foderingham?

It’s hard to see Navas making the move to Bramall Lane unless he’s guaranteed to be Wilder’s first choice.

That would mean Wes Foderingham dropping to the bench despite making more saves than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League.

However, he’s also made the most errors leading to goals although he’s not being given a huge amount of protection from his defence.

Sheffield United need to find a way to improve the squad in January and Navas would be an obvious upgrade.

While it might be harsh for Foderingham to lose his place, big changes are needed if the Blades are going to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
