Significant Sheffield United transfer development revealed on Southampton loanee

Mason Holgate of Everton had a disappointing loan spell at Southampton, and a transfer to Sheffield United had fallen through.

The defender struggled to secure a spot in the team under manager Russell Martin after joining Southampton on loan from the Toffees in the summer. He can play midfield, centre back, and right back, but at St Mary’s, he hasn’t had much playing time.

In spite of Holgate’s paucity of games, the Saints are winning the Championship this year. With a victory over Swansea City today, they could finish the weekend in second place in the Championship standings, where they are now ranked third.
