Ndiaye left United in the summer in pretty poor circumstances at the time. The Senegal forward had looked all set to sign a new deal before turning his back on the club at the last minute and opting for a move to the club he supported as a boy.
However, things did not go well for Ndiaye in Marseille. A dismal run of form, a lack of minutes, and a minor quarrel with Gennaro Gattuso have all left the forward contemplating his future.
According to The Sun, one of the ideas being investigated is a return to Sheffield United.
Sheffield United eyeing Iliman Ndiaye return
According to the article, Everton, Crystal Palace, and Manchester United are all monitoring Ndiaye’s status in France ahead of a possible January move.
A loan move is said to be conceivable, with Marseille and its demanding fan base not particularly impressed with Ndiaye’s performances thus far.
For United, a lot could depend on how much money there is to spend and where Chris Wilder has got the Blades to in the table.
According to reports this week, United could be the surprise spenders in January, particularly if Wilder can steer the Blades to within touching distance of safety.
Ndiaye could be interested in returning to The Lane, and some fans may believe he owes the club something.
Despite his importance in the Championship, Ndiaye’s departure left a bitter taste in the mouths of many fans, who felt he should have stayed and rewarded Paul Heckingbottom.
Finally, Ndiaye’s exit was larger than planned, and Heckingbottom was let go a few weeks ago.
A comeback under Chris Wilder, then, would be intriguing.
