Harrison Burrows transfer verdict issued as Sheffield United agree personal terms

Harrison Burrows has been tipped to be an exceptional signing for Sheffield United if a deal can be agreed to complete his signature this summer.

According to the Peterborough Telegraph, personal terms have been agreed between the Blades and the 22-year-old.

However, the takeover situation surrounding the Yorkshire outfit is understood to be proving a stumbling block to completing a deal with Posh.

The Championship side will need fresh investment in the form of a new owner in order to complete an agreement with Peterborough, with financial issues plaguing the side in recent years.

Burrows impressed in League One last year, contributing six goals and 14 assists from 45 appearances in the regular campaign, as the team narrowly missed out on promotion.

FLW’s Sheffield United fan pundit Owain Wyse believes that the potential addition of Burrows to the squad would be an excellent one, and has claimed that the wing-back could be the long-awaited long-term successor to Enda Stevens in the role.

“I think, looking around the fanbase, everyone’s a little bit down, and doubtful about the club and the state of the takeover as well.

“The news of Burrows seems to have sparked some optimism.

“He’s clearly an excellent player, his numbers have proven that, they’ve also been improving year-on-year, which is a really good sign for a young player.

“He also looks like he’s clearly ready for the step up from Peterborough, and he may finally be the player that fills that left wing-back void left by Enda Stevens a few years ago.”

Harrison Burrows’ importance to Peterborough

Burrows came through the ranks of the academy system at Peterborough to become a key part of Darren Ferguson’s side.

He has gone from strength to strength each year since making his real breakthrough into the first team squad in the 2019-20 campaign.

The youngster missed just one game in the regular league season last year, with Peterborough missing out on promotion with a play-off semi-final loss to Oxford United.

Burrows came second in the league-wide assist charts, and only Ephron Mason-Clark had more goals and assists in total for Posh.

Harrison Burrows would be an excellent addition at Sheffield United

Burrows would be a perfect match at Sheffield United if he were to move up to the Championship the following season.

He would be a perfect fit for Chris Wilder’s left wing-back position.Burrows had a great season last year in the third tier, and his wide-ranging creativity was a big help to Peterborough as they tried to win promotion.

He is now prepared to move ahead in the English football pyramid, so a transfer this summer is a genuine possibility despite their inability to secure a spot in the second division.
