Sheffield United interested in forward but player set to brush interest.

Sheffield United are already making plans for the summer, with reports claiming they are interested in Villarreal loanee Ben Brereton-Diaz. However, the Chilean striker’s desire to return to La Liga has provided an intriguing twist.

Brereton-Diaz, who is now on loan with the Blades, sought regular first-team action when he transferred from  Blackburn Rovers of Villarreal last summer. Unfortunately, prospects in the Spanish top division were limited, prompting his loan stay in England.

Despite his short time with Sheffield United, the 24-year-old has made a significant impact, scoring four goals in just eight Premier League games. His dynamism and goal-scoring ability have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from the Blades in a permanent transfer.

However, Brereton-Diaz’s summer plans appear to fit more with a return to Villarreal, where he hopes to earn out a spot in the team for the upcoming season, according to The Sun.

Sheffield United want to retain Brereton-Diaz this summer

Given the forward’s contributions during his loan period, it seems sense that the Blades want to sign him permanently. However, things are made more difficult by their fragile place at the bottom of the Premier League rankings and the possibility of relegation.

Brereton-Diaz would surely be easier to acquire for Sheffield United in the summer if they were to avoid relegation, but that seems improbable right now.
